TUAT COVID-19 Response Headquarter
TUAT Measures in Response to Placing Tokyo, etc. under a COVID-19 Quasi-Emergency State
The Japanese government decided to place Tokyo (and etc.) under a state of quasi-emergency in response to the spread of COVID-19 (especially the Omicron variant). This quasi-emergency state will be effective from Friday, January 21 to Sunday, February 13. The number of confirmed cases for COVID-19 is on the rise. However, in order to secure students’ opportunities to pursue their studies, at TUAT, lectures are offered face to face as much as possible while infection prevention measures are taken. To create an environment where lectures and research (the first priority of universities) can be conducted, and to ensure to carry out important university events planned in between January and March (such as degree awarding and university entrance examinations), we ask all students to continue to cooperate in preventing the infection spread, by raising awareness on “protecting yourself from infection and preventing infection transmission to others”. There are high risks for virus transmission even in areas not placed under the quasi-emergency state, so please cooperate in preventing the virus spread even in those areas, as well.
- In general, lectures will be conducted face to face after thorough infection prevention measures are taken. However, please follow the policies of the Faculty/Graduate School you belong to.
- As we will be frequently posting up-to-date information on how the lectures or university events, etc. will be held at TUAT, please check the Google Classroom, Web Bulletin Board for students and TUAT website, etc.
- Laboratory activities can be carried out after thorough infection prevention measures are taken. However, please ensure to follow the policies of the Faculty/Graduate School you belong to.
- If there are students who wish to avoid commuting to university, etc. due to concerns on infection transmission, please contact the education/student life committee or your supervisor/advising professor immediately.
- At each campus, infection prevention measures are taken and we are working to create a safe environment for study and research, where the students and researchers can pursue their study and research without much concern about the infection transmission, etc.
- Please cooperate in wearing non-woven masks, cleaning your hands and disinfecting your desks with alcohol, etc.
- Please take good care of your health. If you feel unwell even if slightly, please refrain from attending university or going outside the house/residence, and consult a doctor or take a PCR test.
- If you receive a notification from “COCOA” (COVID-19 Contact-Confirming Application), contact a consultation center near you by following the instructions displayed on the app screen and selecting the region you are in.
- If you have not been vaccinated for COVID-19 yet, we recommend that you consider getting vaccinated proactively.
- If you have engaged in behaviors or activities that may lead to infection (gathering to eat or drink with a number of people, etc.), please try to refrain from commuting to university for about 10 days and keep a record of the people you were in contact with, etc.
- About extra-curricular activities, please refer to “まん延防止等重点措置の適用に伴うサークル活動について” (Extra-curricular activities under a quasi-emergency state for COVID-19) dated January 20, 2022.
- Keep social distancing and keep verbal communication to a minimum in various situations regardless of whether you are on campus or off campus.
- Do not hold events, such as social gatherings (farewell parties, etc.), which may lead to infection spread.
- Refrain from gathering to eat or drink with others (especially when the number of participants exceeds 4) regardless of whether the participants belong to TUAT or not; whether the venue is in a restaurant or in someone’s private house/residence, etc. Please also refrain from participating in social gatherings that accompany eating or drinking at various events or meetings.
- Please take great care and attention not to contract the virus from off-campus activities (including part-time jobs and volunteer activities).
- Refrain from going out unless absolutely necessary, and avoid crowded places and busy times when travelling. Please also refrain from travelling across prefectures.
- While refraining from business trips even inside Japan unless absolutely necessary; when the trip is inevitable, give adequate thought to the situation of the destination as well before proceeding with the trip.
- In general, students’ overseas business trips, etc. will not be approved. However, there are some cases that overseas trips may be permitted; for example, if the trip is deemed to be required as part of an outbound study abroad program based on an inter-university cooperation agreement, etc. Please consult the Student Support Office, etc. of the Faculty or Graduate School you belong to well in advance of planning the trip.
- If you are confirmed with COVID-19, taken a PCR test or identified as a Close Contact to a COVID-19 positive individual, immediately report it to the University.
- Please act according to the guidelines/information provided by the national/local governments.
- We will make a new announcement if there is any change to the current status, such as the government re-declares the state of emergency.
- If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Student Support Office, etc. of the Faculty or Graduate School you belong to.
