Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) Response Headquarter,
Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology (TUAT)
After considering the condition of Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) spread in Tokyo, we have recognized that the current situation is corresponding to Phase 4 (Pandemic Phase) according to the response (reference below) of Japan Society for Occupational Health. In order to protect TUAT students and teaching/administrative staff from infection and to prevent infection transmission to others, TUAT will implement the following measures as of Tuesday, April 7, 2020.
Measures to Be Taken for Students
On Campus
- There will be restrictions on entry into Fuchu Campus nor Koganei Campus (until TUAT determines Phase 5 (Post-Pandemic) has been reached).
- In principle, entry into campuses are not allowed. You can self-study or study via e-learning while staying at home/residence.
- When entering the campus, please present Campus Entry Permit(format:PDF version?WORD version)allowing you to enter the campus issued by your supervisor, etc. and your student ID.
- To students of Faculty of Engineering and Graduate School of Engineering, your TUAT e-mail address, etc. was already mailed to you. Please set your password following the instructions provided.
- To students of Faculty of Agriculture and Graduate School of Agriculture, around April 10, orientation material (your TUAT e-mail address, etc. included) will be mailed to the address you had registered during admission procedures. Please set your password following the instructions provided.

Lectures
- In general, 2020 academic calendar will not change. However, please note the changes below.
- Face-to-face orientations on campus will not be held.
- On-campus lectures which were planned to start from Monday, April 20 will be postponed to Monday, June 1 (tentative). Depending on the condition of COVID-19 spread, this schedule is subject to further changes. There may be courses in which all lectures are held via e-learning during the whole first semester.
- In principle, there will be no lectures held from Monday, April 6 to Sunday, May 10. Orientations via e-learning and procedures of utilizing the course, etc. via e-learning can be accessed from the TUAT website. In some cases, some lectures may be held via e-learning during this period.
- During Monday, May 11 to Friday, May 29, lectures via e-learning and self-study using suggested study reference/study-aid will take place. From Monday, June 1 and onwards, supplementary lectures with supplementary material or assignments will be available. By Monday, May 4, the preparation status, assignment instructions, etc. of each course will be uploaded on the TUAT website. Please check the website regularly.
- Please ensure to have internet access at home/residence.
- Course registration is available via academic information system (SPICA), lecture material will be available mainly via google classroom or university management system (moodle). Ways to utilize these systems will be explained through orientations via e-learning, which can be accessed from the TUAT website.

Research
- In general, plan or write your thesis, etc. at home/residence (until TUAT determines Phase 5 (Post-Pandemic) has been reached).
- Limited to cases in which dealing with living creatures, etc. is required to continue your research, you can enter the campus with Campus Entry Permit issued by your supervisor, etc.
- In principle, business trips (field work involving travel) will not be permitted.
Extra-Curricular Activities
- In general, please do not organize or participate in extra-curricular activities (until TUAT determines Phase 5 (Post-Pandemic has been reached).
- Limited to cases in which dealing with living creatures, etc. is required, you can enter the campus with Campus Entry Permit issued by your supervisor, etc.

Measures to Be Taken for Teaching / Administrative Staff
On Campus
- There will be restrictions on entry into Fuchu Campus nor Koganei Campus (until TUAT determines Phase 5 (Post-Pandemic) has been reached).
- Please work remotely from home/residence as much as possible. Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) – Japan permits conducting lectures remotely via e-learning. TUAT permits remote work of administrative staff, etc.. Please follow the instructions from your superior authorities at work.
- To ensure safety, commuting with private automobiles is permitted.
- When entering the campus, please present your ID.
- In general, do not use sports facilities on campus.
Lectures

- In principle, there will be no lectures held from Monday, April 6 to Sunday, May 10. Orientations via e-learning and procedures of utilizing the course material, etc. via e-learning can be accessed from the TUAT website. Conducting lectures via e-learning during this period is permitted. FD seminars (including date diet) of a course via e-learning will be conducted through teleconference.
- During Monday, May 11 to Friday, May 29, please conduct lectures via e-learning and suggest study reference/study-aid for students’ self-study. From Monday, June 1 and onwards, we ask that you take appropriate measures by conducting supplementary lectures or giving the students assignments, etc. considering the characteristics or educational policies of the course. Please check the TUAT website as the detailed information will be uploaded on the website later on.
- Please ensure to have internet access at home/residence.
- The above-mentioned measures will be applied to part-time instructors as well. If you cannot prepare e-learning material, etc., please contact the professor in charge at your faculty, department, etc. For inquiries regarding your wages of the days on which you cannot conduct lectures according to the above-mentioned measures, etc., please contact Personnel Administration Office.

- Limited to cases in which dealing with living creatures, etc. is required to continue your research, you can work on campus. Unless absolutely necessary, instead of having your students enter the campus, please do it yourself or among the teaching staff.
- In principle, business trips (field work involving travel) will not be permitted.
Extra-Curricular Activities
- If you are an advising professor of any extra-curricular activities, please inform your students not to organize or participate in such activities (until TUAT determines Phase 5 (Post-Pandemic) has been reached).
- Limited to cases in which dealing with living creatures, etc. is required, you can have your students enter the campus with Campus Entry Permit. Instead of having your students enter the campus, please do it yourself or among the advising professors.
