Our laboratory aims to elucidate biological phenomena at the atomic and molecular levels as a boundary area between biology and information science / physics. Therefore, we analyze and design the physical properties and structures of proteins using bioinformatics, biophysics, evolutionary engineering and protein engineering, and modify proteins such as enzymes and antibodies. We are continuing research with the aim of utilizing modified proteins and their design methods in the fields of biotechnology and drug discovery.
Our laboratory requires a wide range of knowledge and skills as we are conducting research in the boundary areas of biology, information science, and physics. Therefore, we are conducting joint research with many laboratories inside and outside the university. In particular, we are conducting joint research with the Instrument Analysis Center and the Faculty of Agriculture, as well as within the Department of Biotechnology. Outside the university, we are conducting joint research with many research and educational institutions such as RIKEN, AIST, Medical and Dental University, Nagaoka University of Technology and Hosei University.
For the past This is a valuable opportunity to enjoy French culture and gain research experience overseas with local students and researchers. We have also accepted many international students from Poland, France, China, India and Southeast Asia. There are always several international students enrolled in the laboratory, and the number of students who naturally speak English in their daily research activities is increasing. You can enjoy a kind of mini-domestic study abroad while you are in school.
