In our group we constantly perform isolation of bacterial strains from various environmental settings with the main goal to discover novel strains and elucidate their genetic and metabolic characteristics. Here, we report novel strains that have been discovered from our collection efforts.
SUMMARY: We report the draft genome of a bacterial strain, Kangiella sp. strain TOML190 isolated from the surface of a striped shore crab. Genetic background analysis of this strain shows that it harbors unique features possibly related to its symbiotic adaptation to its residing host.
SUMMARY: We report the draft genome of a novel alginate-degrading bacterium, Falsirhodobacter sp. strain alg1. We found that this strain harbors unique and extremely efficient alginate lyases making it evolutionary distinct from currently discovered alginate-degrading bacteria.
